Aren (@arengrimshaw) and I attended the first event in the Professional Lecture Series at University College Falmouth last night (Tuesday May 5).
Emily Bell (@emilybell), Director of Digital Content for Guardian News and Media, provided us with a fascinating insight into the contentious subject that is the ‘Future of Journalism Ten Years From Now.’
Many fellow CSMC group members were in attendance, including Fiona Campbell-Howes (@patroclus), Andy Coote (@andycoote), David George (@dgthekneelo) and Shelley Fletcher (@shelleyfletcher) (apologies if I’ve missed anyone.)
Instead of re-inventing the wheel, Fiona Campbell-Howes has written up a fantastic précis of Emily’s lecture which can be found here.
All credit to UCF and Paul Innman, (@pinman) for organising the first of what will be a fantastic number of free lectures. The strap-line to the series is appropriately titled ‘sharing world-class expertise’ and if the first one is anything to go by then the rest should certainly live up to that.
Hope to see as many of you as possible at the May Social Media Café, next week (Tuesday 12th) at Vertigo in Truro. To book in for this event click here.
